OCTOBER 7TH 2022
Butterflies in your stomach, hearts racing, the feeling of "floating"... all of which associated with falling in love. But what about the reboot of one's journey {one's heart} and it's ability to recover from a heartbreak....from the ground up- a new beginning, a chance to love and heal!? I'm talking about a heart that has loved with all its might but is now in its chapter of regrowth.
This is woman, a godly woman. She's a good friend of mine and I had the honor to photographed her during this chapter of "removal"... Nikki has endured the tortures of reoccurring emotional pain and is rising from it all. Much like a butterfly, she is growing in stages.
During our photo session, I wanted her to feel "free" and truly spread her wings from her past demons, relationship and traumas. While scoping hidden gems in Old Town Clovis, we listened to Christian music and embraced God in our photoshoot. She slowly danced to His word and released the memories through praying eyes and hands.
When she lifted her arms to the sky, I too felt it. I felt God through her. It was a beautiful experience. I captured each moment as organically as possible.
I didn't know what to expect from this session or what my lens would gravitate towards. I do however know that watching my dear friend continue to grow the strength and face the world after feeling so deserted, is precious. Nikki has a contagious laugh, she's remarkable and overall just so sweet. She's forgiving and so full of life. She is a great example of how life can sometimes pull you into a dangerous or traumatic path but with God and love, you can remove it from your journey. It is possible to rebuild.
Nikki is a butterfly. No longer a caterpillar, no longer in her cocoon or in the chrysalis stage, I personally feel she's in her "wing" chapter. She's doing things for herself again. She shares the word of God and takes care of her health; which is so crucial to regain your life back.
So my friend, don't stop. You're free! Spread those wings and fly to the love you deserve; this will all make sense someday.
Till our next photo session!
Your friend and photographer,
Priscilla
